Liturgy Commission

The Liturgy Commission is the "summit toward which the activity of the church is directed."  At the same time, it is the foundation from which her power flows.  This committee is concerned with the worship and prayer life of the parish community.  The members coordinate and plan the liturgy seasons and celebrations of the church year.  The ministries under this commission are:

Infant Baptism & Baptism Preparation Class: Baptism of infants is normally celebrated at noon on the third Sunday of each month.  Preparation Class for parents is held on the first Monday of each month at 7:30 in the Rectory basement.

Choir: Parishioners are invited to sing God's Praises at Sunday Masses.  There is an adult choir and a junior choir for students in grades 3 through 8.  The Adult Choir is open to those of high school age and above.  Rehearsals for the Adult Choir are held on Thursday evenings at 7:30.

Handbell Choir: This choir embellished the worship of the Lord on special occasions by the addition of bell tones to the organ and choral music.

Lectors: Proclaiming the Word of God at the Masses.

Eucharistic Ministers: Distributing the Holy Eucharist at Masses.

Perpetual Adoration Society: Spending time in prayer before the Eucharistic presence of the Lord.  Those wishing to join the Society can do so by agreeing to spend just one hour with Our Lord.

Sanctuary Society: Provides for the care and cleaning of the church, the altar and the vestments worn by the priests and altar servers, the linens used on the altar and for the distribution of the Holy Communion.  Ladies of the parish can participate in the activities of the Society, either as an active member or as one of the several hundred spiritual members.

Ushers' Guild: The ushers greet worshippers as they come to the Eucharist and assist in keeping order at worship, directing people to their seats, receiving the offerings of the faithful.
